Old World Tuscan Plaster and Faux Bois Projects

Hello. Did you think we disappeared? On the contrary, we have been so busy the past few weeks, I have not had a chance to update the blog. So, to our loyal followers — I apologize and offer these new project details for your persual and enjoyment.

Here we completed a plaster finish using complimentary tones to create the look of Old World Tuscan walls. Three coats of the architectural coating, Shimmerstone, a shimmering synthetic plaster, were troweled onto the walls. The final finish brought together the tones in the tiles and cabinetry in this beautiful kitchen.

On a more recent project, we had a real challenge. This client imported all the Italian Walnut wood for the doors and trim throughout the 15 bedroom estate from Italy. However, they decided to have the book shelves and audio cabinet in the media cabinet built locally. Our challenge was to match the finish to the Italian Walnut. It took several coats and a few days longer than anticipated, but in the end, the result was truly breathtaking. Even the cabinet maker was having a hard time distinguishing between the real wood and the faux bois wood.
